Late Night Revelations

Tonight is another late night, which is kind of funny, seeing as how I've been going to bed before 2:00am every night since Florida. Mess'd wit ma sleepin patter'n, it'as.

Sorry. Just got done watching 'The Doctor Dances' and now my mind is speaking in a rather strong 1941 English accent.

Ahem.

So, today, I had a few revelations. Things I want to do. Directions I want to take my YouTube channel. Because, for far too long, I haven't had a definition for my 'genre' of video. Vlogger, sure, but to what end? I'd love to do strictly parodies but I don't have the time to crank out a few a month.

I want to connect. Build more of a community. Actually create a /place/ of sorts. I'll keep doing vlogs and DEFINITELY more parody songs, but I want some consistency and involvement.

I'll make a video about this after my Doctor Who song, an original song of mine, and a late PlaylistLive recap video. But you're one of the first to know that SOMETHING big is going to happen.

Februaryyyyy

This year is going by pretty decently if I do say so myself.
A lot of things are falling into place.

Work is going alright, the Slytherin video is back on track, I have my dates for Florida planned out, and I haven't busted my Evo yet, which I'm pretty proud about.

There are so many things I want to type about right now, but the truth is, it wouldn't feel right not mentioning them first on YouTube. See, now I have your interest peeked. Sorry.

A lot of you saw Brittany in my Anne Hathaway/Dark Knight Rises video. I had been trying to get her to sign up for YouTube the three weeks before that video went up and she was nervous that people wouldn't like her or care what she had to say. But she received an overwhelmingly awesome response. Already, she's getting a few hundred views each video. I has Internets pull, yo.

Thank you, guys.

Yea, yea I know. You're still wondering what I "can't" type about. What I "have" to wait to say first on YouTube.

I'll give you hints.

One of them involves the Florida trip, one of them involves a contest, one of them involves secret videos and one of them involves the Slytherin video.

So, in an effort to not sound like a radio announcer, stay tuned.

Behind the YouTube: WhatTravisSays (Part 1/2)

I'm going to do this in the format of a "Behind the Music" special. And it's only going to encompass things that happened during the year of 2010. Just sayin'.

Travis. A young man from Ohio whose video entertainment brought joy to tens of twelves of people he would never meet. Allured by the video posting website YouTube, Travis didn't know what sorts of things would be in store for him throughout the year of 2010. This is that story.

Behind the YouTube: WhatTravisSays

In the beginning of January 2010, Travis had been a video blogger on the channel WhatTravisSays for eleven months. Travis felt that he was picking up some steam and gaining attention for himself. He had a few hundred subscribers and enough time between his college and social life to make videos a few times a month. Things were going well.

In mid-January, he rediscovered YouTube user RockstarRaquel and became enthralled with her New Year's Resolution to post a video everyday for the month of January. Travis found himself making sure he watched all of Raquel's videos as they came out, for fear that he would miss one. He found this constant video output rather addicting. And extremely entertaining.

As February came around, Raquel was finished with her project and mutual friend Steve (Fizzylimon) had taken up the reigns for vlogging everyday in a month. A project which Steve would soon dub the Vlog Every Day Mannor or VEDManor. Again, Travis found himself constantly wanting to keep up with Steve's postings, and by the midpoint of February, Travis wanted to take the challenge of March.

In March, something Travis called MarchTravisSays consisted of the idea that he would post a video every weekday of the month of March, no matter what. Stressful, because Raquel and Steve had each done a wonderful job posting every day that they had aforementioned, Travis found himself close to missing the deadlines multiple times. But as this project was stressful, it was also a creative brainstorm. Travis was writing ideas down more often as the project was forcing him to create entertaining content on a regular, nearly daily, basis.

During the midpoint of March, Travis had an idea.

Travis had an idea. He was going to write another parody song music video. He had done this nearly five months before with his song 'Zombies and They're Eating Brains', the parody to Miley Cyrus' 'Party in the USA'. 'Zombies and They're Eating Brains' had taken just over a month to write, plan, get the cast, shoot, and edit, but Travis had limited time. March has just over two weeks left and he needed to get a move on if he wanted to post a parody video in time.

Going back to where VEDManor all began, Travis asked Raquel and Steve to take part in the video as well as fellow nerds Megan (meganhibner) and Kiera (ianswertobob). They all seemed to love the plans. And although she was incredibly busy at the time, Travis asked fellow TwoSinglePeople-ian Angela to take part as Nerd Girl. She accepted.

After gathering the footage to be used for his parody video, Travis began working on piecing it together early on March 30th, a day before it was to be posted. Also, at the same time, he was piecing together March 30th's video, a video in which he said thanks to his viewers, asked if they remembered the first of his videos that they saw, and got excited about the prospect of tomorrow's video, all without making sure not to give away any information.

Very early into the morning of March 31st, around 4am, Travis posted his video for 'Nerd'.

And to him, this YouTube hobby would never be the same.

Road Trip to Ohio University

BEDA: April 23, 2010

So today, Friday, marks yet another occurrence of me driving from my tiny little corner of Ohio down, down, down to Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, to pick up my brother for the weekend.

Those of you that know me well enough know that, instead of thinking, "Ohio University, where my brother goes to school," as the first thing that OU makes me think of, I instead think, "Ohio University, where Hayley G Hoover goes to school."

That doesn't make me weird by any means, right? Right.

Moving on.

So from my current location to OU back up north to my parent's house where we will be headed, it's a near nine hour drive. Yay, road trips. Kinda.

The drive is always fun after I pick up my brother. We've really been getting a long this last year or so, about the time that he started his own YouTube channel. I swear, they have nothing to do with one another. :)

During the drive one always convinces the other that we should make a stop here or there and it ends up being a lot of fun not having to be back at any certain time because, hey, we're going to get back after midnight anyway so we might as well make a few stops.

It's the drive down that's completely un-lol-tastic. I mean, sure, I'll have CDs to which I will sing obnoxiously loud, I'll have phone calls to make, and I'll even listen to my dose of NPR. But there are times when the drive just goes on and on and on. I'll be packing up my car and leaving around 4 and that's what I have to look forward to. Joy. I'd better start working on those CDs...

Shut up. Small doses of NPR makes me feel smart.

BEDA: April 17,2009

I think all YouTubers get it from time to time; the amazing ability to have nothing sound interesting enough to talk about.

It's not fun.

I mean, I have ideas. I have a lot of ideas. When I get an idea I text it to my email and then stick it in the REMEMBER folder. I have things that will be filmed, I'm just not really in the mood at this point in time. Maybe tomorrow, or maybe even later tonight, I'll get the motivation to talk about something that excites me but for right now, I'm checking Twitter, Gmail, and entertainment news online and I'm just sorta in a blah mood. Or maybe it's because I just ate.

Yay, being American.

Blogs are different, especially during BEDA because I'm forced to find something to talk about. Even talking about having nothing to talk about like I did a few days ago. But then again, I found something to talk about. I'm going to move on before I cause a blood vessel to burst.

I have footage from Mark for making a guitar video. He's awesome. You guys will love it. I just need to film my sections for the video. I could film something with Angela if she wasn't traveling around Toledo with her mom. I could just do a normal vlog and talk about stuff but I'd like to have a few more things to talk about because it would be a very short boring video. I could write more sketches and film them later or even write a few songs...

Ya know what, that's what I'm going to do.

I have nothing else to do today so I'm going to jump in my bed with a notebook and a pen and start writing. If I fall asleep, I fall asleep. I don't have to be anywhere today.

I love Saturdays.

Busy, Busy, Busy

BEDA: April 12, 2010

So, a lot of you, know that I have a lot of things going on. Between college, getting things in order for Florida, and a social life, a lot of Internt-ish things are going on as well.

It's weird seeing my videos reach over 1,000 views within a day of posting. I don't think that will ever get old. My How to Pick Up Women parody seemed to be a hit and I need to start getting a few more videos up in the next couple weeks while I still have the campus labs at my disposal.

This coming week I have to do a few video-type things for a different people, some for on my channel and some for on theirs. Also, I've been writing a lot more lately. On the same note, I have some people that I'm waiting for some stuff from. *COUGH*m00balot*COUGH*

As I tell people on Twitter, be excited.
