Gallifrey

So, it seems to be a hit with you guys. I'm glad. I spent a lot of time writing and re-writing and filming and re-filming and then drove all the way to Bowling Green to edit it for nine hours.

Granted, it would have taken less time had I not been distracted by the internet, but that's beside the point.

I've learned to take the negative comments with a laugh. I know I'm not the greatest at singing Lady Gaga, but come on. It's Lady Gaga. I'm a BOY.

Soon, the video will become available in searches, and much like 'Nerd' and 'Zombies and They're Eating Brains', I'll soon be getting comments about my singing.

I NEED TO STOP PARODYING FEMALE ARTISTS. Haha.

To the nerds who understand the song and who love Doctor Who, thank you.

It's Done: A Blog About a Video

So, as I'm sitting here typing this at 2:36, well within my previously stated blog acceptance hours, I can only think about how not hungry I am.

I ate half of a pizza less than two hours ago and nearly an entire bag of jelly beans in the past hour. But that's beside the point.

The parody song about Doctor Who is DONE. I was starting to think the fates had aligned against this video's completion.

Brief history of the birth of this video:
Version 1 of the audio was done last week but today I re-filmed all audio. I also filmed half of the video last week and half earlier today. After finding out I couldn't edit on my own computer OR the campus computer lab nearby, I drove an hour and a half to Bowling Green to edit in an open-all-night lab. Then, I spent two hours on audio version 2 and another three-four hours on the video itself.

Needless to say, I'm in that weird funk where it's exhausting to sit down because of how much computer time I clocked today.

But it is uploading right now. And I'm very happy with it. I hope you guize like it.

SLUMP

So, at this moment, I am faced with a very interesting conundrum.

I could go through and thank the 300some people who've subscribed to my YouTube channel over the past week OR I could write a blog post and just let my thoughts flow.

Guess which one I'm doing.

My rationale is that I usually thank subscribers while watching American Pickers and that won't be happening until later tonight.

But I can be excited.

Anyways, this is not a continuation of my "Doctor Who Series 5 is Near-Perfect" series, although that will continue in the near future. Probably after the Project for Awesome and I hope to have all 5 or 6 parts up here before Christmas. Because that's when the Doctor Who Christmas Carol episode premieres.

And I'm excited about that too.

The reason this blog is titled "SLUMP" is because I've been in a creationally-unmotivated mood when it comes to videos, unless I'm being coerced. AHEMKIERAAHEM But I've had a few things that I've planned, even filmed, but once it got around to the time of editing, I'm over them.

Like the new iPad 2 which is coming out in the next couple months. There's still secrecy surrounding it but it's supposed to have a front facing camera, more memory, an SD slot, and a better display.

Big whoop.

Apple, so many companies already beat you to those 'innovations', you're just following suit.

Now, you all know that I'm no Apple fanboy, I have an iPod and I'll use iMovie if the opportunity presents itself, but that's about as far as I go.

The subject is technology, it's Apple-based, a company I feel very strongly about, and it's something that would be easily searchable by a lot of people which guarantees views. But I just ended up not being excited about the video halfway through filming.

Then, there was this guy who robbed the Bellagio at gunpoint. Came into the casino wearing a motorcycle helmet pointing a gun and he robbed the first craps table he found. He was in and out in three minutes.

On the robber's upside, the casino estimates he made it out of there with $1.5 million in chips. On the robber's downside, that's just it. He made it out with CHIPS. He's going to have an awfully hard time cashing them in.

Next, we'll hear about him robbing a Toys R Us of its Monopoly money.

BAZINGA.

So, now that I go back and read this blog, it's not so much an excuse as it is justification for me not posting less than great (in my eyes, anyway) videos. I will never become a sell-out or just post videos to make money. You have my word.

Unless I do VEDA MANOR again next year.
Then, I might have to force myself to make videos.
BUT THEY WILL BE AWESOME.

But, that's a story for another blog.

(PS - because I talked about that guy robbing the Bellagio, look at what I listed as adds below LOLOLOL)

Matt Smith: The Eleventh Doctor

BEDA: April 10, 2010

I told myself I wasn't going to talk about the new series of Doctor Who until I watched a few more episodes but since I'm halfway through episode 2 while typing this, I figure now is as good a time as any.

Matt Smith is The Doctor.

I don't mean that as a painfully obvious statement of fact; I mean it as he actually carries the role quite well. I mean, he's no David Tennant, but I digress.

There are a lot of pros and cons with any regeneration of The Doctor. People are going to love it, hate it, or judge the actor before they even give him a fair watch. I have no idea how the series will continue to progress but I will say that I'm starting to notice some heavy similarities and differences with the Matt Smith version than, say, the David Tennant version.

The Eleventh Doctor acts much more brash than his previous incarnations and he's not afraid to show a bit of an eccentric side, not hiding the fact that he has a very alien way about him. He seems to let emotions get the better of him sometimes, getting annoyed when things don't go as planned, which happens rather a lot. The Eleventh Doctor doesn't seem to ever have a master plan and it's more of a minute by minute, figuring it out as he goes, kind of solution. In a preview clip, it even shows Smith's Doctor firing a gun; something that Tennant's Doctor was adamantly against (usually. I mean, there was that tiny situation in his last episode...)

Apart from his overall youthful nature, the Eleventh Doctor seems to have a firm grasp on social media, citing Twitter and Facebook. He has an eidetic memory (I learned of that ability on The Big Bang Theory) and is able to scan a mental image for clues.

There are also many similarities he holds with previous incarnations including the fact that he can taste something to be able to tell the age. He also sometimes arrives incredibly late, mistakingly piloting the TARDIS years from where he intended. But most importantly, like his preprocessors, he has incredible leadership skills.

Matt Smith, you are The Doctor.
